Full Job Description:

Petroleum Equipment Incorporated of Kansas City specializes in providing parts and contracting services needed to construct and maintain retail, commercial, industrial, fleet, aviation and marina fueling operations. The Service Manager would be responsible for day-to-day service operations, Wayne warranty tasks/parts & manage parts warehouse for both service and commercial construction projects. The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the service and maintenance operations related to petroleum equipment, ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of equipment such as fuel dispensers, storage tanks, and associated systems. This role involves managing a team of service technicians, coordinating service schedules, and liaising with clients to provide exceptional service and support.

Candidates for this position must be authorized to work in the United States. Capped financial assistance is available for relocation. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage safety aspects of service department to ensure company safety standards and procedures are followed.
  • Work with the Service Writer to maintain service schedules for routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs. Meet customer service goals and expectations.
  • Manage service technicians to ensure timely completion of service calls and related paperwork.
  • Assure technicians maintain their performance KPIs.
  • Manage Wayne warranty calls and task completion.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ensure the service department has adequate staff by working with Leadership and Human Resources.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Warehouse/Inventory Manager. Ensure parts are available for the day’s jobs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to petroleum equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance to service technicians and support ongoing training initiatives.
  • Assure technicians understand and follow customer protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure technicians are up to date on training and certifications and on the latest technical information. Manage technician training path.
  • Manage service department billing and accounts receivable.
  • Assist technicians in the field when necessary.
  • Ensure correct and appropriate use of company hardware and applications.
  • Manage after hours on call and ensure on call coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years’ experience in a leadership role in maintenance/service industry (petroleum, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) required.
  • Experience working with Gilbarco, Wayne, or similar dispenser preferred but not required.
  • Certifications in Gilbarco, Veeder Root, INCON, Verifone or similar preferred but not required.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Lift 50 pounds unassisted and work in a high traffic area
  • Work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, and supervisors).
  • Capability for multi-tasking and highly organized, with excellent time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices.
  • Travel as necessary
  • Work flexible hours.
  • Pass a drug test and background check.
