Full Job Description:
Petroleum Equipment Incorporated of Kansas City specializes in providing parts and contracting services needed to construct and maintain retail, commercial, industrial, fleet, aviation and marina fueling operations. The Commercial Electrician Apprentice, will be supervised by a first level Journeyman Electrician on-the-job. You will learn how to assess and repair electrical problems on retail and commercial fuel systems. In addition, as you gain more experience, you will be required to complete the Wayne Dispenser/Payment Certification. As an Electrician Apprentice, you will complete both hands-on projects on job sites and coursework in a classroom setting. Your duties will include basic set-up, cleaning and maintenance tasks and progress to more skill-based tasks as you gain experience working with our construction and service crews. You will be required to take virtual, evening and offsite courses to complete the classroom work.

Candidates for this position must be authorized to work in the United States. Capped financial assistance is available for relocation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Read and understand complete set of construction drawings and documents.
- Build a material list for a cost effective installation.
- Support the installation of electrical systems for New Construction and Improvement projects.
- Gain knowledgeable of National Electrical Code.
- Gain experience to communicate professionally with General Contractors, Supervisor, Other trades, and peers.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and demonstrate problem solving skills.
- Professional attitude and promote teamwork.
- Test electrical systems using tools that include voltmeters, oscilloscopes and ohmmeters to determine where issues may be occurring, the safety of the system and to ensure compatibility
- Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation
- Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices
- Determine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and maps
- Become Certified to install and set-up Wayne Helix, Ovation, and Vista dispensers and payment systems
- Troubleshooting and repair Wayne legacy dispensers
- Programming Vista and iGem electronics
- Reading data dumps and creating dispensers templates
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and also through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to immediate supervisor
- Report incidents immediately to safety director, foreman or HR in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company.
- Use ladders, scaffolding, platform and lifts to work on electrical systems in convenience stores and commercial properties
- Answer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfort
- Maintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; report any issues to immediate supervisor
- Travel out of town to work on remote job sites as directed by management.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Completion of electrician training program preferred
- Able to diagnose problems using electrical test equipment
- Knowledge of NEC electrical codes
- Eagerness to learn electrical schematics and blueprint reading skills
- Interest in technology, WAN, computers and basics on how to navigate, program and troubleshoot
- Some Construction experience
- Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules
- Ability to build, maintain, and contribute to a positive team workplace
- Meets productivity standards, quality metrics, and completes work in a timely manner
- Adhere to compliance requirements at all times
- Critical thinking, quick decision making, and using reason while dealing with emotional topics
- Identify and resolve issues timely by gathering and analyzing information skillfully, developing alternative solutions
- English literacy, speaks clearly and persuasively in a positive manner even in negative situations
